Shell, Petronas, Repsol ads banned over greenwashing
Ban follows landmark ruling against HSBC for 'misleading' sustainability ads last October
The UK advertising watchdog has banned adverts from major oil companies for including misleading information over climate-related claims.
The Advertising Standards Authority ruled on 7 June that ads by Shell, Repsol and Petronas were likely to mislead consumers by exaggerating the environmental impact of their business activities, which are mostly based around harmful fossil fuels.
